Attractive Coffee in Pyeongtaek was one of the first coffee shops I noticed when we moved to South Korea. They serve western style coffee and meals that have made them a staple in the American community at Camp Humphreys.

About Attractive Coffee, Pyeongtaek

The small house with the great coffee – that’s how Attractive Coffee describes themselves and its pretty accurate.

The brand is a franchise with a few locations throughout South Korea. This is the flagship Attractive Coffee, located in Pyeongtaek. Attractive Coffee moved into this building in 2016 after outgrowing their old space.

The owner, Sam, is so friendly and its easy to see that the community brings him as much joy as much he brings them. In addition to coffee, they serve western-style breakfast foods and deli sandwiches.

If you’re missing the flavors of the US, this is one place you definitely want to stop.

Layout

The first thing you’ll notice when you enter the cafe is the beautiful mural along the left wall. The leaves and branches are a sketched representation of the coffee plant and coffee beans.

Unless my translator app has failed me (which is very possible) the wall says something along the lines of “love coffee.”

Booth seating divides the coffee house in half with the right side dubbed the “kids zone.”

Natural wood is a key feature of the decor. Paired with the dark ceiling and exposed lights, it gives the cafe a cool industrial vibe.

Attractive Coffee serves western flavors, which means if you want a pumpkin spice latte in October or a peppermint mocha in December, this is your place.

The best part of their menu is that it’s easy to customize. In my experience, customization is not common in Korea so I’m extra thankful for Attractive Coffee.

My first order from them was an iced americano with almond milk. I had to take it to go because of recent COVID restrictions, but it tasted just as good at our apartment.

Notice the holiday sleeve adding an extra festive note 🙂

My next visit was for peppermint mochas. This isn’t technically a menu item. To order it, ask for a mint choco latte with espresso. Again, mine was with almond milk; regular milk for hubs.

I honestly preferred it with almond milk but both versions were delicious. It’s not quite as sweet as a peppermint mocha from Starbucks (which I think is a good thing) but still has a great holiday flavor.

Food

You won’t find a lot of pastry options here but you will find full breakfast options.

Their menu features western favorites like pancakes, omelettes, bacon, and combinations of the three. Just like drinks, the food menu is easy to customize.

If you’re not a breakfast person, they offer lunch options as well. The kitchen serves salads, sandwiches, and burgers. There is a vegetarian option for both sandwich and salad.

I haven’t been able to try a meal here yet, but I plan to as soon as I can. I’ll report back when I do!

I’m all about branching out and trying new things when traveling. Every once in a while, though, you need some comforts of home. When that craving hits, Attractive Coffee will be my go-to.

As you explore South Korea, make sure you check out this small house with the great coffee.
